The old town square is at the center of Old Town, Albuquerque. It is the original city center that the Spanish settlers established some three hundred years ago. Old Town is the cradle (la cuna) so to speak, of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The well-preserved Spanish-style plaza dominated by San Felipe de Neri, the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Albuquerque, http://www.sanfelipedeneri.org/ dominates the plaza that is a tourist mecca foe out-of-town visitors to the Albuquerque area.

Old Town is the perfect place to buy gifts of all kinds for friends back home. One side of the square is dedicated to Native American craft and jewelry. On your way in or out of nearby restaurants and shops, you may stop to buy native-made items spread out along the sidewalks.
The square is lined with gift shops, book stores, restaurants, and alleyways leading to still more shops. Many fine hotels are in Old Town, and the tourist information office is also on the square.

The plaza is a desirable venue for a variety of shows and activities throughout the year. Last Christmas, I participated in the Holiday Stroll on the square to raise funds for homeless mothers. The square is absolutely gorgeous especially on Christmas Eve when the luminarias are aglow along paths and walkways.
